What's happening with SHRM-GT?

The Society for Human Resource Management of Greater Tucson (SHRM-GT) is the leading voice of the human resources profession in Southern Arizona and this chapter has distinguished itself by receiving several Superior Merit awards from SHRM national. SHRM-GT consistently strives to provide superior benefits to the membership.

Owner  and career coach Maisha Hagan believes participating in professional associations can directly benefit a person’s career, network and skills. Maisha is the owner and head coach at Beauty & the Boss, a professional development and career coaching service for women. In an effort to encourage and promote professional development, Beauty & the Boss hosted a drawing in August to pay the annual membership fees for one lucky winner.

Lupita Vazquez was the drawing winner and chose the Society of Human Resources Manager, Greater Tucson chapter as her favored association. Lupita is the receptionist for a non-profit organization that promotes literacy and chose SHRM because her role is evolving to take on more HR responsibilities.

When asked about the idea, Maisha shared, “It’s easy for companies and individuals to eliminate professional development when budgets get tight. I wanted to do something practical to encourage people to stay connected to the communities, learning and leadership that support their careers, especially during these times".
