Membership & Engagement Committee

What are the benefits and rewards of volunteering on SHRM-GT Committees?
- Help SHRM-GT achieve its goals and objectives and in doing so enhance the image of HR professionals in the business community.
- Increase your network in the HR community. Having a broad network of HR professionals in varied roles can be very helpful as you look for new ideas for your organization, research best practices, or meet new challenges while you broaden your knowledge. Additionally, if you are looking for a new HR position, your network is the first place to go for ideas, feedback and direction.
- Earn HRCI/SHRM recertification credits! Many of us look at our job related work for opportunities to earn credits, but did you know that you can earn up to 10 credit hours by volunteering?
- Many organizations recognize and reward their employees' participation in community organizations. Working on a SHRM-GT committee can be an excellent avenue to achieve this. And starting as a committee member is the first step to leading a project or event for SHRM-GT, becoming a Director of a committee, and a member of the SHRM-GT Board of Directors.
How can I get started?
- Visit the committee sites on the SHRM-GT webpage and contact the HR professional listed as the contact. Ask how you can get involved!
- Speak to the Committee Director(s) at the next SHRM monthly workshop or event (they are wearing their committee roles on their badges) and ask how you can get involved.
- Already on a committee and want to find out more about a leadership role? Speak to your Committee Director or any SHRM-GT Board member and ask about attending a board meeting.
